Essay help: What is this service?
WHAT IS WRITING MENTORING?
This particular tutoring service is a collaboration between you, the student, and me, the writing mentor. I work with you to help you develop your ideas, take your writing to the next level, and format your work according to MLA, APA, or Chicago guidelines. My role is not to edit your paper or to scratch it up with red markings, or even to tell you what you should write. I'm here to offer advice while preserving your writing vision!
WHAT SORT OF ASSIGNMENTS CAN I BRING?
Writing mentoring is fantastic for academic papers, personal essays for college admissions, or writing assignments! It is not meant for job cover letters or resumes, however.
WHAT SHOULD I PREPARE FOR A SESSION?
What to bring is entirely up to where you're at in the writing process. It's always best to have the writing prompt or assignment on hand, and whatever else you have: brainstorm, outline, and drafts are all elements I can help you to enhance or move onto the next step with. Relevant research is also welcome, as are your ideas or goals for that particular assignment. And, if you are really unsure how to even begin your paper, have no fear! I am also thrilled to help you brainstorm or make sense of an essay prompt.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD WE MEET?
Again, this is entirely up to you! Some of the students I worked with met with me several times over the course of a few weeks so that we could work on their essay from the planning stages to the final draft. Other students contact me once every so often. Students are always welcome to schedule a follow-up session at the end of a meeting, to best keep them accountable and on track with their writing assignment!
